8 Finest Villains of the Kdrama World

Our love for Kdrama leads is never-ending, but on par with our protagonists are the villains who keep the story moving with twists and plots of evilness. Even while being the mascot of evilness, there are some antagonists who place us in dilemma as they pull and tug at our hearts by their acting prowess, their looks or by their story.

Here are some of the finest villains of the Kdrama world who troubled our leads but stole our hearts.

—SPOILERS AHEAD—

by LEE JOON in GAP-DONG

Lee Joon plays the role of a psychopath who idolizes a serial rapist and murderer named Gap Dong.

Sweet and polite, he makes the viewers fall for him, but behind those killer smiles lurks the cold and menacing murderer who is obsessed with Gap Dong, and recreating his murders.

by JANG MI KWAN in STRONG WOMAN DO BONG SOON

Jang Mi Kwan is a newbie to the Kdrama world but his role as the psychotic kidnapper and killer in Strong Woman Do Bong Soon is definitely not one to be forgotten.

His masked look and creepy acts gave us nightmares until the man behind the mask was revealed.

CHOI YOO-JIN

by SONG YOO-NAH in K2

Ambitious, merciless, corrupted and in love with the lead (Ji Chang-wook), the character of Choi Yoo-Jin has many shades.

As one of the most complex characters in K2 , she manipulates and wrecks her enemies on her path to become the First Lady, and that is worth a watch.

SEO YUL

by LEE JUN-HO in GOOD MANAGER

It is not very often that you come to adore a villain, but with Seo Yul, you will.  An ace prosecutor, he leaves his post to join a big corporation and is always at loggerheads with our lead- played by Namgoong Min.

With great love for food, he is seen munching on titbits like a small child throughout the drama. But the highlight of all is his bromantic rivalry with the lead.

JUNG HYUN-SOO

by DONG HA in SUSPICIOUS PARTNER

A villain with no remorse and who feels justified for killing people is the most dangerous.

Wicked and clever, he does not only play games with the lead, but also arouses mixed feelings of hatred and a little sympathy at times.

CROWN PRINCE LEE YOONG

by KIM JI-SEOK in REBEL: THIEF WHO STOLE THE PEOPLE

You will hate, loathe and want to beat some sense into this character played by Kim Ji-seok. That only shows how brilliant this character was enacted.

Despicable, hungry for power, and ruthless, Crown Prince Lee Yoong will make it into any list of the best villains of Kdrama land.

CHA MIN-HO

by UM KI-JOON in DEFENDANT

Money and power–the lethal combination and everything within his reach: Cha Min-Ho has nothing that can stop him from destroying numerous lives.

He has no regrets and will go to any extent to save his skin, even to killing his twin brother.

CHEF KWON JAE-HEE & NAM GYU-MAN

by NAMGOONG MIN in THE GIRL WHO SEES SMELLS and in REMEMBER: WAR OF SON

These two characters are among the best in Namgoong Min’s career. Villains in two opposite ends of the character spectrum.

The calm and composed Chef Kwon Jae-Hee in ‘The Girl Who Sees Smells’ who believes he takes over his victim’s life by killing them, and the psychotic crazy chaebol Nam Gyu-Man in ‘Remember: War of Son’ who has his own legal team just to take care of his wrongdoings.

Namgoong Min has blown such life into both characters that even while hating them to the core for their acts, there is a shade of pity we can’t avoid.
