A lot of music videos now consist of many abstract elements and strong dance moves. However, not too long ago, music videos had complete story lines.
Let’s travel back in time and revisit a few music videos from the 2000’s!
Because I’m a Girl – KISS (Single, 2001)
KISS debuted as a three-member girl group in 2001 but disbanded in 2002. This MV garnered a lot of attention since actor Shin Hyun-Joon and actress Goo Hye-Joo were casted and, it continues to be a staple karaoke song in Korea.
Words That Are Hard to Say – Lee Seung-Gi (Crazy For You, 2006)
You may know Lee Seung-Gi from dramas such as You’re All Surrounded and Gu Family Book, but he actually debuted as a singer in 2004. He recently finished his military service last October and will be returning to the small screen with a new drama called ‘A Korean Odyssey: Hwayugi’ which will be airing on December 23, 2017 on tvN.
Saying I Love You – Kim Jong-Kook (Volume 4 – Kim Jong Kook’s Fourth Letter, 2006)
Kim Jong-Kook debuted in 1995 through Turbo and started releasing albums as a solo artist in 2001. This MV stars his longtime “love line” Yoon Eun-Hye. Although they no longer appear on any show together, many fans are still hoping for this couple to reunite as a team.
4) Last Farewell – Big Bang (Remember, 2008)
Big Bang is a five-member boy band who debuted in 2006 and is known for setting many fashion trends. This MV stars actor Lee Dong-Gun, and the appearance of the Big Bang members makes the video even more entertaining.
5) Kiss – Sandara Park feat. CL (Single, 2009)
Sandara (Dara) Park was a part of four-member group called 2NE1 who debuted in 2009. The group officially disbanded in 2016 as the members focused on their solo activities. This song, which was used for a beer commercial,stars Dara and Lee Min-Ho.
